Towards Thermal-Aware Workload Distribution in Cloud Data Centers Based on Failure Models

چکیده
Increasing workload conditions lead to a significant surge in power consumption and computing node failures data centers. The existing distribution strategies focused on either thermal awareness or failure mitigation, overlooking the impact of energy efficiency cloud To address this issue, new holistic model is built characterize impacts workloads, cooling costs, heat recirculation, Leveraging such model, we propose novel thermal-aware strategy called HGSA that takes into accountand can improve Our empirical findings confirm (i) faulty nodes large rise consumption, (ii) locations play vital role Experimental results unveil HGSA adroit at making near-optimal decisions strategies. In particular, cuts down minimum inlet temperature by 5.2 $\%$ -15 , improves maximum air Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) 4.2 -26.5 lowers cost 15.4 -50 compared solutions. Furthermore, back total 0.65 -78 .

Cloud Computing, the long-held dream of computing as a utility, has the potential to transform a large part of the IT industry, making software even more attractive as a service and shaping the way IT hardware is designed and purchased. Virtualization technology forms a key concept for new cloud computing architectures. The data centers are used to provide cloud services burdening a significant...
متن کاملA SLA-based Cloud Computing Framework: Workload and Location Aware Resource Allocation to Distributed Data Centers in a Cloud
As the number of users of cloud services increase all over the world, cloud service providers keep deploying geographically distributed data centers more. Since resource capacity of a data center is limited, cloud service providers need to distribute load to data centers. However, when the provider distributes load, SLAs (service level agreements) established with consumers should be guaranteed...
متن کاملLifetime-Aware Cloud Data Centers: Models and Performance Evaluation
We present a model to evaluate the server lifetime in cloud data centers (DCs). In particular, when the server power level is decreased, the failure rate tends to be reduced as a consequence of the limited number of components powered on. However, the variation between the different power states triggers a failure rate increase. We therefore consider these two effects in a server lifetime model...
متن کاملEnergy-Aware Aggregation of Dynamic Temporal Workload in Data Centers
Data center providers seek to minimize their total cost of ownership (TCO), while power consumption has become a social concern. We present formulations to minimize server energy consumption and server cost under three different data center server setups (homogeneous, heterogeneous, and hybrid hetero-homogeneous clusters) with dynamic temporal workload. Our studies show that the homogeneous mod...
متن کاملMaking Scheduling "Cool": Temperature-Aware Workload Placement in Data Centers
Trends towards consolidation and higher-density computing configurations make the problem of heat management one of the critical challenges in emerging data centers. Conventional approaches to addressing this problem have focused at the facilities level to develop new cooling technologies or optimize the delivery of cooling. In contrast to these approaches, our paper explores an alternate dimen...
